Hello (BUY MY BOOK) I have a book out today (BUY MY BOOK)
Become A Genius In A Year is out today and a lot of fun, please buy it (BUY MY BOOK)
Here’s a thought experiment. Picture a cuboid — about 25cm long, and let’s say 8cm wide and 5cm long. Similar dimensions to a house brick. Conjure it up in your mind, visualise it in front of you. What’s it made of? If it’s made of wood, follow the shape of the grain, the swirls and whirls of knots within the fibres. If it’s metal, admire the sharpness and precision of its corners. Really, really think about it. Create it within your brain.
Can you picture it? Is it there? Have you got a block in your head?
I’ve always suspected so, you dimwit! What you need is my new book, Become A Genius In A Year.
It’s out in the UK today, written by me, illustrated by Gareth Williams and edited by Holly Tonks. It’s a lot of fun. While it’s probably best suited to people aged around 7 to 11, there’s plenty in there for everyone. It’s packed with fun, fascinating facts about everything from axolotls to kitchen sinks to a man that ate an aeroplane.
It’s available from all the places one might sensibly expect: websites named after rivers, shops named after what you find in rivers, all sorts.
It’s also in supermarkets — if you find yourself popping into Sainsbury’s for an enormous bag of frozen onion rings, 16 rolls of toilet paper or another present for a loved one, you may well also be able to pick up a copy.
“But Mike!” you say, “Which of the many places offering up your latest masterpiece benefits you the most?”
I think it’s this one, the store I set up on Bookshop.org — I think, but am yet to actually properly know, that I get a cheeky little extra few percent on anything bought through there. But, honestly, everything is good. If you buy it, amazing. If you don’t buy it but tell other people about it, amazing. If you ask your local library to get it in, or corner the manager of your nearest bookshop and threaten to hit them with a bit of wood if they don’t stock it, well, I can’t condone your actions but I’m very flattered by what you intended with them.
Become A Genius In A Year. It’s a good book!
